What's More New York than the Statue of Liberty? Carrie Bradshaw

This Spring, nothing will be more "New York" than Carrie Bradshaw and her gal pals in "Sex and the City 2" opening in theatres May 28th. The trailer for the film has just been released and it seems to have all the glamor, shoes, and drama as the first movie and series - sure to be a big NYC hit. Watch the trailer.

About the movie:

It's been two years, what happens after you get married? The continuing story of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha as they struggle to manage their love lives, friendships and careers in New York City.

Got Your Easter Bonnet?

Nothing says Easter in NYC like the Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival.  You can get your fill of Easter bonnets as New Yorkers gather along Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets. The area around St. Patrick's Cathedral is always the hot spot of the parade where you can see everything from the traditional to the extreme (some bonnets actually have live animals in them).  Grab your bonnet and your camera and join in on the fun. The Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

See you there!

The Scottsboro Boys - Discover NYC Pick of the Week

The Vineyard Theatre’s production of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS is more than your typical well-performed Off-Broadway musical—it is provocative, thought provoking, toe-tapping, and a five-star work of art. This is bold, exhilarating theatre at its best. It is our Discover NYC pick of the week.

From the celebrated songwriting team of KANDER & EBB (CABARET, CHICAGO, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN), THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS is a new musical that explores the well-known 1930’s ‘Scottsboro Case’, in which a group of innocent African-American teenagers are falsely accused of a terrible crime—eventually provoking a national outrage that sparked the American Civil Rights movement. It is directed and choreographed with fine attention to detail by Tony Award-winner SUSAN STROMAN (THE PRODUCERS) with outstanding performances by JOHN CULLUM (URINETOWN), BRANDON VICTOR DIXON (THE COLOR PURPLE), and COLMAN DOMINGO (PASSING STRANGE). The show has been extended through April 18, 2010. But don’t wait—click here to get your tickets now.

The Bitter End

A few weeks ago I went to The Biter End for the first time. New York's oldest Rock Club is an amazing place to see live music in NYC. I strongly recommend seeing the New York Songwriters Circle that performs every other Monday at 7.p.m It's a great venue to hear up and coming artists from all over the country. When I went i saw one group in particular from Nashville, TN, Channing and Quinn, who are going to make it big.

It's one of the best deals to see some great live music in NYC. Check out their schedule at the link above.

The Perfect Umbrella?

As I was walking to the subway yesterday, wearing my big black not-so-stylish rain boots and trying to battle the wind and rain, I actually tripped over a huge "dead" umbrellas laying in the middle of the sidewalk.  The high speed winds and massive rain had made the streets of New York City look like an umbrella graveyard. They were EVERYWHERE! I couldn't help think, "There has got to be some decent umbrellas out there perfect for the NYC weather."  Maybe if we all just invested in one quality umbrella verses all the cheap $3 kind, New Yorkers would not only stay drier, but quit littering the streets with umbrella carcuses.

So I did a little research and found three studies that give their suggestions for the very best umbrellas - the perfect gift!
